4 year old mini, owned from new, 15,000 miles complete clutch breakdown.
Mini Dealership say out of warranty so not our problem. I cannot get them to say what is the problem or the cause but they suggest it might be "User Error". I asked them to put that in writing, they refused. Repair bill of £3,800.

Any advise on how I can pursue this further welcome...or any other owners who have had the same would welcome you input.

Even within warranty, the clutch wouldn't normally be covered - it's essentially a wearing part. The most usual cause of failure is indeed "user error, i.e. driving style.

But £3,800 seems outrageous: have you shopped around?

BTW avoid Mr Clutch.

Mini clutches are pretty reliable, and failure is usually due to driver error.

As far as I can see a replacement should cost south of £1500.
