I was stopped by the police today for breakin a red light at a roundabout. they said that i would get 3 points and a £60 fine. The police offericer checked my lisence and everything then gave it back to me. They didn't give me and piece of paper or anything so does that mean i will get the 3 points and the fine or have i been let of the hook?

could be wrong but i think they have up to 14 days from the date of the offence in which to serve you with a "notice of intended prosecution" (NIP),to satisfy that requierment it can be given orally or in writing,orally is usually given at the time of the offence when stopped, written is usually given where you are not stopped at the time. The Police do not need to prove that you received it, proof that it was sent to the registered keeper within 14 days is sufficient for service.

the thing is that they did a check on my car and everything but they didn't actually write anything phyiscally down. And also one of the police officers asked the other officer its there call on what should happen to me and the police officer didn't say anything to answer that they just said that you shouldn't jump red lights and gave me abit of a talkin to and walked off. I'm not sure what this means. surley they should write something down or tell me properly this is what is going to happen to me, if you say that they can send me a notice they should tell me that there going to send one

There is no requirement for you to sign anything at the scene, no requirement either for video or photo evidence.
If reported for summons, you should also have been given a verbal NIP. If not, then you should expect this by post within 14 days.
It will have been something like "You will be reported for the consideration of the question of prosecution for the offence of..."
This statement is a supposedly required for prosecution of various offences and is meant to leave you in no doubt that prosecution is likely.
dont know if this will go any way to help,if not then i would seek more expert advice or just wait and see what happens,above all if you have gone through a red light then depending on the circumstances wait and see and take whatever is comming it may be cheaper in the long run than trying to argue it in court,just my twopenneth and hope everything turns out okay for you,
