After warranty expires - HELP!!!

    Hi,

I bought a used car 4 months ago with a 3 month warranty.

A problem occured with the ignition (it jammed basically) the same day I bought it and I had to call the RAC out. They temporarily fixed the problem but said to take the car back as it was a fault and would happen again.

I returned to the garage the next possible working day and was told that it was probably due to dust. After squirting some WD40 in the key slot I was told they had no intentions of fixing it as it wasnt "broken".

Yesterday I experienced the same thing. I called out the recoveries again, this time, they dismantled the ignition from its barrell. This basically allowed me to start the car with a screwdriver!!!!! I was obviously only advised to drive it as far as a garage to repair it.

The car has gone in this morning and Im waiting for a verdict on the cost of fixing it, and Ive also emailed the company I bought the car from explaining the situation.

I realise that the warranty has now expired, but surely they should be liable for some cost of the fixing??? Its the same fault I presented to them 3 days after buying the car! Can anybody shed any light on this at all???? I have no idea of where to go or who to see...........

    Hi

It is very difficult to give legal advice on a forum. I would suggest you contact your local Citizens Advice Bureau. The advice they give is free and they will know what your rights are.
