Can I reccommend buying RAC cover off the sales guys rather than the web site, those poor buggers are out in all weathers, offer a foutain of knowledge about the RAC and are only paid commission on sales.
I joined with one lad outside of Tesco and got free onward travel - an offer not available on line.

Trouble is though it's cheaper for us motorhomers to join through the caravan and camping club, if they could offer the same discounts we would have happily bought from the guys on the streets.

Discounts

The Arrival Caravan and camping membership is partly subsidised by the Caravan and camping club which the member would have already paid a small subscription fee to. Which it is why it works out a little cheeper than cover with the Direct sales force. However if you show a direct sales agent your caravan and campng club membership card they should be able to do the discounts on the spot too.:) Also working for certain companies or having certain credit cards/Bank Accounts could also offer discounts look up loyalty schemes you may have you could be suprised.
