Parking Ticket Discrepancy
-
I got a parking ticket a couple of days ago and I'm wondering whether it's worth challenging it. Admittedly I did park on a yellow line but the ticket said I was parked at location A but in fact I was parked at location B which is a different street, the two places being separated by another road. If I do challenge it do I have to say where I was parked. Grateful for ANY guidance.:)

I'm disappointed that nobody has commented on my original posting. I challenged the parking ticket but have had a letter today inclosing a photograph of my vehicle. But they are still insisting that it is at a differently named location. Surely they cannot enforce the penalty if the location is incorrect.

I didn't answer your first post because I doubted you would have appreciated my reply but as you insist If you parked on a yellow line anywhere pay the blooming fine ! The yellow lines are there for a reason. If you break the law at least stand up and accept the consequences
-
I understand what you are saying and, as far as that goes, I agree. However the ticket was to all intents and purposes made out incorrectly and is therefore surely invalid.
-
No, I'm sorry but on a matter of principle, they MUST get THEIR facts right. Regardless of the fact that I may have parked illegally elsewhere, they have said that I was parking somewhere where I was not.
-
Laws are there for a reason they obviously made a mistake when they wrote the ticket (human error happens) if you were innocent I would say fight the ticket but you admit you were parked illegally else where, so IMO it's a moral question and morally I would feel guilty enough to pay the ticket, if you don't well that says a lot about how society is going I think.........

ticket
just browsing and thouyght ide put my oar in, i think there are far to many money making machines by the goverment and local councils, so fight it and win , speak to a solicitor for free on line , -
Thanks. I've just been on to the Highways Dept of the very county council who booked me and they have confirmed that the spot where I was parked was not the place mentioned on the ticket!
-
ticket
if they have addmitted it keep going , you can clearly state that you were not at the location whilst preserving your right to remain silent , if they ask were you were . keep fighting -
Fight it. They have got their facts wrong. Can you tell from the picture that the place they are saying were is different to the picture.
-
You are talking a load of rubbish. If these people are going to "lay down the law" they should ensure that they get their facts correct. That is a MORAL responsibilty on their part. The way "society is going" is partly down to the incompetence illustrated by events such as this. -
Thats right.
The offence that they have accused you of has not been committed by you. They have accused you of illegally parking in a particular place but you were not there, therefore you have not committed to the offence as stated by them.
If they employ 'numpties' to do the job they deserve to get challenged. -
Have you not heard of "a matter of principle". All it has cost me so far is about half an hour of my spare time plus the cost of posting two letters - a small price to pay for not being "walked over" by petty minded bureaucrats who cannot be bothered to get a proper job.
-
true. i seen a programme few years back where it was a call centre of people ringing in complaining about tickets they have. you can tell they are just money grabbing 'people' -
Not rubbish just "old fashioned" law abiding member of the community saddened by declining standards ;) -
Now see my post of earlier today. As I said to somebody else there is virtue in maintaining one's principle. Had the ticket been issued with the correct location shown I would have paid without question. As it is, because the location was INCORRECT I do not think I am guilty of bad morals in challenging it. The authority concerned obviously agree with that.
-
And the local authority have admitted that they put incorrect information on the ticket and have cancelled it - which they were "morally" obliged to do. End of story.
-
It is really satisfying to know that there are some people around who never ever break the law and then go and hand themselves in to the relevant authority.
Or even admit to any immoral action and face the consequences. -
It appeared in my last post which was a joke previous postings were not a joke as I was I thought simply discussing the topic. I've got one of those too  :D
-
Thats right and you were coming across as someone who does everything by the book and so law abiding that even though the ticket was issued incorrectly the person should pay the fine and be done with it irrespective of the legalities. -
Well now, I do try to behave in a manner that is within the law and would myself if I had parked illegally felt honour bound to pay the said ticket I would also add I did say he wouldn't like my answer which was why I ignored the original question so long.
I do find it funny it was only after I said he should pay it everyone else decided to join in.
Still it all seems to be settled now he didn't have to pay which was what he wanted.
So unless you're holding out for an apology which I don't feel I owe anyone as this is just a forum for expressing opinions which is what I have done I can't see what you are still going on about ?
