Parking and road works ?

  • woodyuk's Avatar
    Hi

I live in Kingston and just got home to find my car has been blocked in by roadworks. They have placed large barriers etc around my car. This was not their when I left this morning. There were no warnings or notices to say this road was closed. They have also closed off like two peoples driveways.

If they damage my car, can I do anything about it ? I assume I am not allowed to move the barriers to move my car, to be honest would be an effort on my own. Can they tow my car away ?

Unless it's emergency road repairs, I was under the impression the powers that be (who ever they are) had to notify any interested parties (whoever they are) that the road was going to be closed.
Seems a bit shabby to block you in like that. :(
But then again maybe we have no rights in this regard! Come to think of it, are we even allowed to park on the Queens Highway?
Someone mentioned to me once that they (whoever they are) could stop us all parking on the public highway if they so chose. Maybe that's not far off :(
