iTrips

I hear that iTrips and similar low powered transmitters will soon be legal to use in the UK.

Incase you don't know iTrips allow you to listen your ipod or MP3 in car by tuning your car stereo in to a set frequency which the iTrip broadcasts on.

iTrips are already legal in the US and Europe.

These gadgets are already availble on eBay but are technically not legal to use in the UK, just wondering if anyone already uses these?

If so, and you are in the London area do you find that it is possible to use them with the high concentration of pirate radio stations in London clogging up the dial.

107.4 is the best frequency I've found so far that gives me good coverage across the country. I rarely need to retune with that one.

Don't bother with the original iTrip though. I had one and it's a nightmare to use. You actually have to have a 3second mp3 track for each frequency on your ipod. To tune it, you play the frequency you want, which means interrupting your actual music of you need to retune.

There are loads of better ones out there now that have buttons on the device itself for retuning and a display showing the frequency. I've got a little Maxell one, which does the job and even lets you save presets.

    Cheers
