no key to turn off my alarm
-
I have just replaced my battery and the alarm has started. Unfortunately i do not have a key to turn it off. I can pull the wires out the back but need to reconnect every time i wish to start the car. What can i do ?

If you can turn your alarm off simply by pulling wires out, then it ain't much of an alarm. What is make and model.

Need more information-make and model and engine size as per sticky at the top of this section. Also is it a factory fit alarm or aftermarket? and if it is what make?

It's fitted to a Vitara 1600 JLX 16 valve, a 1995 one. I think its an aftermarket alarm. Did not realise it was still working when i bought the car last year, never gone off before. I take the battery off to charge it, put it back on and got the fright of my life. -
Unless you can get a replacement key from philips-then you are going to have to remove the alarm system and put the vehicle back to standard. As a point of interest this can happen with unknown immobilisers that have been fitted in the past-luckily I haven't had the misfortune yet-but some of my colleagues have

Just got off the phone to my brother-in-law who owns a garage and he gave the same advice, he said he had some alarms go off when he was presure washing cars before working on them. -
Have you checked the battery in your key fob? Sometimes a low battery sends a weak signal that triggers the anti-theft system but won't let you disarm it.
If you're doing the 'battery disconnect' trick to reset it, I'd recommend using a timer to keep track of how long you've left it unhooked (usually needs about 20 mins to fully discharge the capacitors).
