Satnav 200 Usb Charging Lead

  • greenisbest's Avatar
    Hi,
My first post here after purchasing a SATNAV 200 and searching the www for a Forum of users..:D

I found it strange that my 200 came only with a car charging lead so i hunted around my Gadgets to find that my Mot'orola V3i USB Data cable fitted the 200 and charged it from my Pooter very nicely :D

Which is rather handy as i have a Car charger for the V3i which is a nice Backup in case i destroy my supplied lead in a fit of frustration cause it's led me up someones garden path

Seriously tho i am pleased with it so far and she seems to be working 100% (Touch Wood)

Hello & welcome:) My rac 210 came with the car charger AND the home (mains) charger too.....maybe some fellow 200 owners can confirm wether the 200 should come with the charger?

I have the Mot'orola V3 mobile too & its good that a standard usb cable can be used to connect to pc for charging (not to mention flashing the firmware & general hex editing!) These have to be the most editable /customizable mobiles ever.

I don't think we really need a link to the lead. It's just a bog standard USB cable.

Ummm Bog standard USB cable

I gather there are Dozens of BOG standard USB cables that fit various devices such as my DSLR Camera BOG standard USB cable that OH doesn't fit my 200...........

Just trying to help members that don't know one BOG standard USB cable from another....SO sorry Admin..

Thought this forum was as others are primarily for assistance to members from other members....Darn got that wrong

Now if the excuse had been we don't advocate products produced by ZYX then fair enough there's some rules i would respect...;)

Lets see how long this post remains un-edited !!!

No, I won't edit your post. First posts from people that link to a commercial web site are more often than not suspect, so I removed the link and left the useful part of the information. I should have said "Bog standard micro USB" - apologies if I wasn't specific enough.

Thank you i can understand now your suspicions and to be honest what you say makes good sense.
And i now know it's a Mini USB connection....So I've learnt something new also :D

I'm sure a lot of users will find various parts of this thread useful.

It's true that ******** do use the same adapter as the RAC200 so do come in useful to any customers that may have both.

The RAC200 does not come with a USB cable. There is no real need as we recommend that all data transfer between SATNAV and PC is done via a card reader/writer. A very cheap and useful piece of equipment I can highly recommend. Comes in handy for use with SATNAV, mobile phone, digital camera etc.

charger would work, an ipod usb charger maybe a creative zen usb charger

    Hi all.
I have just been given an RAC200 for Xmas and was wondering if anyone knows what accesories are available for it e.g. Mains Charger and Carry case (thanks everyone for the tip of using a micro USB cable).
By the way, this is the first time I have visited this forum and it looks first class. It is also very refreshing to see that the RAC take their customer care very seriously (unlike a host of other companies and Mike & Andrew certainly know their stuff).

the only problem i can find with the rac200 is no autoupdate maps etc sadly
plus what id mention above about mains charger, pc charging is ok but its only trickle charge
as far as i know, slow correct me if im wrong?

Hi Davro, and welcome to the site, yes it is good to be able to have the use of this site, and be able to have our questions answered by Mike and Andrew. As for your question about mains charger, if you phone the number on the back of your unit, you will be told where you can buy one. I use my USB lead hooked up to my computer, that does the job great.;)
    Cheers, Smudger.

Cheers Smudger, many thanks for your help. I've managed to obtain a USB cable and this seems to be doing the trick, but I'll give that number a call and also get a mains charger for those times when a PC is not available.
    Thanks again, Davros :)

Don't forget Davros, that you can have it charging while you are actually using it in the car;)
    Cheers, Smudger.
