I would just like to echo Liliy's sentiment: Happy Easter everybody!

As to iconic drives, I visit relatives in Beds, Cambs, Dorset and Sussex, so I get a variety of scenery depending on which route I take to get there. A bonus is seeing the wildlife along the way. I spent 2yrs in Wales at the end of the 60s, so did a fair bit of exploring on a motorcycle, including the odd jaunt into Scotland. I have not done the suggested routes in the video, but have ridden and driven around the areas mentioned.

Like any sane people, my wife and I will stay home, as we have always done on bank holidays.

Does anyone remember the days when the newspapers used to, somewhat gleefully, report on the post-bank holiday accident statistics, in particular the number of deaths?

We often go to pick up a relative, so they can stay for a few hours, so travel on the day - Christmas or whatever - and it's usually relatively clear. From my experience I've found the worst days are probably the before and after days, like Good Friday / Christmas Eve etc

@Drivingforfun The emptiest roads I ever saw were on the day of Kate Middleton's wedding. From M40 along the M25, then A405, A414 and A1(M) to Hatfield. Left the house around noon, got back home around 2.15pm. Saw 5 cars on the entire journey! I could not get over the feeling that I was not in an episode of The Twilight Zone or Outer Limits.

I didn't travel far, just to Bristol on Monday to visit a National Trust house and I was lucky, no traffic at all! Visited Clifton and Clifton Village, I was really lucky with the weather.
