RAC Service - now unable to drive my car

    Looking for advice please.

i had my car serviced 2 weeks ago on my drive. Since then it has leaked oil not only on my drive but also left a trail behind the car on the one occasion i drove the car.
I have had 2 reattendances but other mechanics. The first replaced the washer and the sump plug, since then even more oil leaked out. After a battle a second mechanic came out and said it now needs a new sump as its been damaged, by their mechanic. They will repair but not for another 10’days. By which time i will have been without a car for three weeks, through no fault of my own.

Rac servicing wont do anything to offer me a car even though i have in writing its a mechanics fault

Rac onward travel wont do anything as it isnt broken down

Customer care will take up to 8 weeks to resolve my complaints.

can anyone suggest anything of how i can at least get a replacement car or the cost covered. Life goes on, i need a car for work and life and im genuinely at a loss now of what to do next.

    thanks in advance

Get a price from a local garage to tow your car in and repair it, contact the RAC advising them of the costs and give them say three working days to fix it or you intend to go ahead with the garage and send them the bill.

Not sure what the legal status is currently but have a feeling, somewhere at the back of my head, that you have to give a minimum of 7 days notice in writing before any action.

However, having said that I would suggest asking legal advice on the matter prior to taking any action. Now obviously you can’t ask for legal advice from the RAC against themselves but if you have independent vehicle insurance you can certainly approach your insurance company and possibly secure a loan car for the duration of the dispute and or financial compensation. My second suggestion would be to contact either or all of the following. The consumer service ‘Which’ but you do need to be a member, though they may be interested enough to take the case on anyway.

    A solicitor of your choice.
    The Citizens Advice Bureau.
    Motor Insurance Company

But to start off with you have to contact your insurance company and if you have ‘legal advice’ included within your policy then use it.

I hope some or any of these suggestions are of assistance but don’t expect to be recompensed quickly because it will be a very slow process.
