I don't know how long the road was closed, but the dreaded Pothole Alley was open to traffic on Tuesday. Locals advise me the road was closed for maybe 3 days. They 'fixed' one pothole in that time. I drove up there Tuesday morning and could not believe they had not fixed them all. (There are at least a dozen). My daughter told me that the company the local council uses said they had run out of tarmac. This from a company who 'specialize' in road repairs.

From what I remember of pictures of Pothole Ally - it is beyond fixing it needs a full refurbishment.

If they’ve run out of tarmac, couldn’t they just melt down all the speed humps?

They would get a grant from government to remove the speed bump!

Old tarmacadam is never used, the logic is, the wearing course (surface we run on) will have been polished and lost it's grip, and it will be mixed with the base course which is the wrong size.
