What has/is happening on Head lights

    From the BBC;

    A summery of what is or is not happening on bright head lights.

    With world trade as it is due to Trump, I would think nothing much will happen.
    It appears what is needed is more rigidity in the way headlights are fixed to vehicles (less likely to get out of adjustment) and very effective automatic level control.

    The last hospital transport driver I traveled with was complaining about oncoming bright lights, I suggested he looked where we were going and not to look at them they were going the opposite way! A few minuets later he said, "that was a good idea, he was not having problems any more!"

    I find the article confused on the technical matters, and misses some vital points, for one, once the retina it is fully saturated it is saturated more light will not make any difference, and recovery time is long and independent of over saturation time. (Of course, I am excluding using so much energy actual damage is done)
    Another effect I call the spotlight effect - a spot light has it's light focused into a tightly controlled narrow beam but it difficult if not impossible to use a good quality one to drive by! That is why rally cars have a whole row of spot lights side by side to give width to the coverage.
    We then get into areas I have already mentioned in other posts about what can and is being done with LED lights in terms of having greater control over focus, and their effect on the eye.

    It does not mention one other effect - because it is in the media, we will tend to look for/at the problem, where without the media, we would have only noticed when it affected us.

    Once upon a time we had Police on the roads who would give out rectification notices for lights which caused problems. If we went back to this system motorists would begin to boycott some cars, which would definitely make manufacturers sit up and take notice, and maybe stop their glib rubbish. FWIW: I have Halogens and have no problem seeing where I am going, and don't get flashed by paople I am dazzling.
