please I need help. I got a car from a private seller on Facebook marketplace and had no idea it was Japanese imported. Fast forward to one year , I had an accident exiting a roundabout as the other party was in the wrong lane. Their car was badly damaged while mine was just the fender and headlight as they had hit me from my passenger side and had no intention of exiting the roundabout. Now during the claim proceedings first central had told me that the other party was only willing to accept 50/50 and I said No because I strongly believe I wasn’t at fault, there is a also a police incident number where the third party said they realised they were on the wrong lane. But when they later made an official response they claimed” I hit them “
Now 1st central has voided my insurance saying I didn’t disclose this to the whether or not it was intentional , they have decided to void my insurance. I argued that I had no idea and I signed up to them from money supermarket mobile . They didn’t check as well on their part as I am now been made aware that insurance can check whether or not a car is imported(this I had no idea).
i have filed an official compliant so I can get a response from them, which I intend to take to the ombudsman. While waiting for their response they have now sent me an indemnity form to sign. I have read it and refused to sign it and told them that I think it’s disproportional to void my insurance even though they admit that I could not have known.
I am thinking about approaching a solicitor or should I wait till their response from my official compliant and then take it to the ombudsman first??
