Tuesday night coming home from my daughters, we had the misfortune to use the A414. Arriving at London Colney roundabout to find it closed and a row of cones diverting us along, to me, an unknown road. To add to the pleasure, the next roundabout was also coned off directing us onto the M25 clockwise at J22. What I wonder is, are roadworks authorized to send L Plate learners onto motorways?
FWIW: Usual journey distance 48miles, but their diversions made it 73!

I know it seems petty, and it'll likely be priced in already, but I often wonder if it's fair to pay taxes (fuel duty, VAT on servicing etc) on the extra miles we do because of roadworks
