I have to say right from the start that I care not a jot about how much it costs, nothing surprises me, especially with our current chancellor of the exchequer.

Just had my letter reminding me to tax one of the cars. Had a look over the document and noticed that the1 year old acquisition now attracts a fee of £195.00 per year, with a CO number of 9G/KM Okay no worries. My Yank tank attracts a charge close to 6k a year, big engine big emissions equals big charge.

I then speak to the B in Law who drives a 5-6 year old petrol Mazda 3 with a cost of, wait for it, just £30 per year ! With a CO of 50 G/KM

So, road fund licensing rates are absolutely nothing to do with emissions. Not moaning just stating facts.

Odd then that Ministers pool vehicles have to be no smaller, engine wise, than 4.4 litres and preferably 5 litres and above and can only be petrol !

Never in the field of human taxation have so many suffered at the hands of so few ! We would fight them on the beaches but we can’t afford to drive there to do so, besides they would be full of solar panels and wind turbines anyway. 🤦🏻‍♂️

I know exactly what you mean. My daughter just got her letter for her Ka. Fiesta based 40mpg on a good day - £35. Mine also does 40mpg, so pollutants must be about the same - £210! 🤢

In a similar vein, my Council Tax goes up at the same rate at which potholes appear.

@Rolebama Gonna get worse, from this April the RFL on specific year vehicles, I think it was 2006-2016 but don’t quote me, will be going up to either £720 or £760 based on year and engine model. So some poor devil is going to find themselves with a Vauxhall Zafira 1600cc and paying £760 a year to tax it. Outrageous.

Despite some horror stories in the press - and even more on the internet - the VED rates which will apply from April have NOT yet been announced.

😂 As I said, anything and everything is possible with the crowd in charge of this country at this point in time. Wouldn’t surprise me if they decided to make everyone wear their underpants on the outside of their trousers! It’s rumoured that at least one minister is a big fan of Woody Allen🤭
