With all the rain we've had these past weeks, I really miss the auto wiper function from my last car. I would also like a heated windscreen like the ones my daughter has had on her last 3 cars. (She is really into her Fords, 2 Kas and a Focus.) I did a really silly thing years ago when I had a Fiesta. Cleared the ice off the screen, turned the wipers on, and the mechanism broke because the wiper blades were still stuck to the screen. 1am Sunday 130 miles from home. Mind you, we did do a fair temporary fix with baling wire and cable ties.

My car has auto wipers but, unlike my parents' Fords, you need to turn them on every time you use the car. I've always wondered why, I assume it's because of some nuance in law, maybe related to the fact the automatic headlights also turn on when the wipers come on.

I did that exact same thing, by the way!! It struck me as one of those things we all have to do once because we're unwilling to learn from others 🤦

The auto wipers have to be turned on each time you use the car to prevent the wipers being damaged if they have frozen to the screen while parked.
I much prefer adjustable delayed wipers.

I am not a fan of auto lights due to risk of causing confusion by coming on at the wrong moment and being misinterpreted.

I can't remember the last car I had without auto wipers, so probably the last ten or so have had them. All of them have had the auto wipers and lights turned on by default.

I don't recall any problems with frozen screens, so maybe they've been automatically disabled below x degrees?

I can't check with my present car as I don't go out on frosty mornings! One of the joys or retirement.

@Rolebama heated seats. It was freezing last week guys, so so cold that I was really regretting my life choices, like getting an affordable car with no extra perks. 😰
