I absolutely detested my Austin Maxi. It would break down at the most inconvenient of times because of some of it's oddball design features. I had it three months or thereabouts before I gave it away. The guy I gave it to had it for years, and he swore by it's reliability. I could only conclude it hated me!

My employer in the early 70s had issued Maxis as the standard company car. They were hideously unreliable.
20-odd years later, I foolishly believed the claims that BL/Rover had sorted their problems, and I opted for a Rover 820SE as my company car. Worst car ever. Electrical component failed on a weekly basis, and the engine blew up on the M1. -
All I remember of those was pressing brake pedal, switching on ignition, holding pedal for 10 secs, or something like that*, because they refused to idle. (Something to do with setting fuel/air mix.)
*There was also something about a sequence of warning lights on the dash that had to be turned on and off to get the alarm to shut up. Always in the middle of the night. -
@Rolebama It wasn’t mine, but my mum owned a green Fiat Uno around 1997. It was, by far, the most uncomfortable car I’ve ever been in... it felt like travelling on a soapbox.
Incredibly ugly as well. I was glad to see it gone. 🦜Lily

Mitsubishi Tredia - I hated the damn thing, I didn’t like it when I ordered it, the meme sahib did, I didn’t like it when it was delivered, again she did. Had it a couple of weeks and a scaffolding lorry reversed into it and the over hanging poles went straight through the bonnet and into the engine. Had it repaired and a couple of months later, winter time, had half a dozen cars crash into it due to black ice. They repaired it again and I part Xed it immediately and bought a Subaru WRX which I loved, with a passion, and which she hated, equally with as much passion. Oh happy days.Last edited by Seal; 04-02-26 at 16:26. Reason: Spelling error

@Seal that was a cursed car, if there's such a thing 😂 Glad you got the Subaru instead, you could have ended up driving into a river or something.
