This morning I went to the kitchen, filled the kettle up, got a bottle of milk out of the fridge, closed the fridge, put the milk on the counter top, and the kettle wasn't on the base.. I couldn't find it anywhere?? I had it 10 seconds ago... after a minute of looking round it turned out I'd put it in the fridge??

I was in my workshop/hobby room and needed a tool that I kept in the garage.
The garage is about 20 paces from the workshop and when I got there I'd forgotten what tool I wanted.
I had a project involving an ATtiny402 micro-controller. Couldn't find one anywhere so I ordered 25 from Mouser. When they arrived I put them in the storage bin clearly marked 'micro-controllers' where they joined the 5 I couldn't find a week ago.
But I'm 72 so I have an excuse. 😎 -
The stairs in my house are split in two where they double back on themselves. I sometimes get halfway up and can't remember what I am going up for, so turn around and go back down. It is only when I get to the bottom that I remember what I was going up for.

@Rolebama Visited a few friends in Ireland many year ago, and after a night involving a fair few pints of Smithwicks retired to my bed on the first floor.
Woke up a few hours later for a wizz and forgetting where I was went to the toilet, except where the toilet should have been according to my befuddled brain was the stairs, which I promptly fell down. Of course being loaded with natures pain killer; alcohol I felt nothing, so I got up and went to what again I thought was the toilet but it was in fact the door to the cellar so down those stairs I went as well.
Never did find the toilet; don't ask😎 -
I sometimes had trouble with forgetting where I was headed in the factory when on night calls.
Or the time's I would be walking around grumbling, "I can't put anything down and it's gone, who's got it?" Someone would point out it was in my hand! Sorry.
Or unlock the stores, then not be able to remember what I was looking for.
To counter this, I learned to take the damage part with me but sometimes I might put it on the appropriate shelf and lock up!
Now I have aged, it's more often, this setting off but can't remember where to or why? -
@Drivingforfun I threw my telly remote in the bin. I can't possibly fathom why my brain decided that was a good idea and I searched for it for hours. 😅
I also lost a knife, never to be found again. What can I say? Tiredness can kill!Lily

@NMNeil On 'that' topic, I once jumped over a dry stone wall in Wales for the same reason. The side I jumped over was around 4ft, unfortunately for me there was a drop of about 20ft on the other side.

@Lily We went out for an Anniversary dinner, during which I gave my wife a very expensive watch. She put the watch on and put the box in her handbag. When we got home she took the box out of her handbag, but the watch had gone. We searched everywhere. Couldn't find it. Phoned the restaurant and the taxi company. Both very helpful but no joy. I decided to make a cup of tea and when I went to put the used teabags in the bin, I saw the watch on the top of the rubbish in the bin. She swears she doesn't remember taking it off.

@NMNeil the way I laughed reading your post! 🤣
Did you friends invite you over again? and how badly hurt were you next day?
@Rolebama hahahaha why always the bin??? 🤣 That's literally my worst nightmare. Was she super tired?
Or maybe it was her not so subtle way of saying: "Rolebama (insert your real name here) I didn't like the watch, but I didn't want to hurt your feelings" -
My mum once did something similar with her phone
She came back from McDonald's (she only eats in McDonald's when she's stressed already, because she loves cooking) in a panic because on top of everything else going on that day, she'd lost her phone and couldn't find it in her house
I did the usual calling it and no answer, while she checked around and in the car etc
Then I remembered she has the "find my friends" service turned on, so I pinpointed her location to McDonald's
We drove over and I narrowed it down to the bin area... the bin was locked away in a plastic shell thingy, though, and I couldn't reach in far enough. So in front of all the customers I had to open it up and empty everything out
We found the phone just before staff politely asked what we were doing -
To add @Rolebama were the watch bracelet screws loose? When I bought my Rolex Explorer ages ago, it (fortunately) fell off when I had my hands in my pocket because the saleslady had taken a link out of the bracelet for me but not screwed it in tightly enough
From now on I don't trust the staff to resize watches and always do it myself and add a blob of Loctite -
@Drivingforfun you are good son 💛 what was happening that day, work stuff, a wedding? She must have been REALLY stressed.
