Did anyone see the Aurora Borealis yesterday?

Yesterday, our skies had nothing to envy to those of Alaska or Finland, since the Aurora Borealis decided to come to the UK for a night.

Did you guys get a glimpse?

It was clearly visible in parts of Wales (like Pembrokeshire) but not all in Cardiff, instead we had our classic rainy night. Yay!

If you did see it, let us know and share your pics!!

Nothing for me in Leeds - nothing. that made me thing that's what it was anyway - it's been pretty miserable and rainy recently so even when I've been in the garden with the pup on a night I didn't notice anything! Maybe next time - ther's some great images. floating around though. Video you posted is great, such a beautiful phenomena.
    Thanks,
    Nick

@Nick I’d love to see it! 🙂 Imagine ticking that off our bucket list without even having to leave the UK and without paying for expensive tickets to Lapland.

There was more crazy solar activity last night and the sky was clear, but… nothing!! Sigh. If I was younger or a bit less tired, I'd have driven all the way to Tenby to see them.

Maybe we’ll be lucky next time. If not, we’ll need to start saving ASAP to take the kids to Denmark.

I was in the Bergen area of Sweden with the Commandos in 1969/70, and it was a common sight there. However, most of the time they were only green and purple, but the 'curtain' effect was really worth seeing.
I was there for 6wks in the winter, on a ski course, and it was cold. Sleeping in tents.

@Rolebama are you a retired Royal Marine? 😲 The longer I’m your CM, the more I learn about you all and the fascinating lives you’ve lived. I always remember @olduser telling me how he moved the cannons in the Dorset Tank Museum before it opened. I still to pay it a visit, by the way.

Six weeks in the cold sounds very, very hard. I can imagine seeing the Northern Lights was a real highlight, but probably not enough to compensate for such intense training. 😑

@Lily I was in a Tank Regiment, stationed in Bovington 1970/71. I was with the Commandos doing an Advanced Skiing Course. As to the Tank Museum, me and a mate used to go there volunteering to get some stuff up and running. We were both keen motorcyclists so we cannibalized 2 Zundapp tracked motorcycles and had great fun in the mud at the back. (This was when the Museum only had the one building on the corner of the camp.) We also got a couple of troop carriers going, and a few tanks. I also remember loading a lorry with various machine guns from the the tanks and taking them to the ranges for test firing.

I have been back to the museum a few times, the last time was last June, when myself and a few of the staff reminisced about 'the good old days'. My daughter arranged the visit, and a surprise visit to Lulworth Cove. (I didn't have the heart to tell her I spent most summer weekends there.) She had planned a wander down to Durdle Door, but one of the local Rangers advised us the track was very slippery, and not suitable 'for the elderly gentleman', (me), so we went back to the Museum for a quick bite, and off home.
