Telescopic car brush damaged paintwork

  • NathanNoble's Avatar
I baught this product and tried it for the first time today as its left white scrapes all over.

Im a car enthusiast im ocd about having a clean car no matter what car it is and I clean my car multiple times a week even cleaning family and friends car on a regular basis because they know I enjoy it and I put care and pride into getting it spotless

I presoaped the car, rinsed, I presoaped the car again before contact washing with the brush (the brush connects to the hose and has a soap attachment so the brush is always soapy and not dry), I washed the tailgate/boot of my x5 and I instantly noticed the scrapes so I stopped and rinsed it down but the damage is done and im annoyed to say the least its a new to me car only had it about 6 weeks, its a blue car so they are extremely noticeable.

Ive been passed from pillar to post between the rac customer support and the rac shop which isnt even owned by rac and just sell their products, no one at rac knows who to speak to and keep passing me to the shop even after I tell them they arnt owned by rac...

does anyone know who will actually help me deal with this because i shouldnt have to be out of pocket due to poor quality manufacturing

Hi @NathanNoble , welcome to the RAC Community, and thanks for making your first post!

What's the product you bought, and where did you buy it from - you don't mention this in your post.
    Thanks,
    Nick

Your complaint is with whoever sold you the brush, as you say this was not the RAC.
Citizens Advice will help you with formal letters etc., if required.

I wonder if you did any research before buying it?

I think it may be this one: (522) Review of the RAC All In One Car Washing Brush With Soap Dispenser - YouTube

This is my quick review of the RAC All-In-One Brush. The kit includes a 67 inch telescopic car washing brush, which you can connect to your hosepipe, a alloy wheel brush and a squeegee. The brush head also comes with a soap dispenser which gets released with the water. I bought this from B&M stores for a grand total of £25. Overall, the build quality is reasonably good, though the device is quite heavy, and can only really be used in a open space. You also have to regularly adjust the brush head, to get at certain angles of the vehicle. It's probably better suited to cleaning caravans or large vans, rather than cars. I personally wouldn't recommend it if you're not particularly strong due to its weight, or if your vehicle is parked in a tight space.

The RAC Shop has an email on their customer care page, so use that to make your complaint so you don't miss any deadlines and to give yourself a paper trail.

And the owner of RAC Shop is Colewood Automotive LTD. who, despite their title just design websites and run stores selling made in China garbage like your washing stuff.

Did you pay with PayPal? if so start a dispute. Credit card, start a dispute.
Don't take no for an answer and point out that the RAC Shop webpage says you can return products you don't want, not just defective, within 14 days of receipt.
