Shocking Breakdown Service
-
I have completely lost my patience with the RAC Breakdown service. Can someone please give me an answer as to when my breakdown will be attended. I have been sat waiting patiently (now very impatiently) since reporting breakdown at 1500 YESTERDAY. Thats now over 24 hours and still no one can tell me when im likely to be recovered. My app still tells me 8am to 12pm today but its now 1520?? work than one out. Ive so far called twice (total waiting on hold time 1Hr 30 mins) and still nothing. Apparently something wrong with computers so its been escalated, i asked to be put through to the escalation team only to be told they would ring me, so i asked if i could have their number to be told they dont have that number....what kind of a service is this. I am extremely angry at the RAC. Now i am waiting on someone calling me back...i have a suspicion that i will be calling again in the next 2 hrs for another useless person to tell me what i already know......absolutely nothing. Has anyone else had a similar experience? The RAC used to be Britain's premier breakdown service. They are not even in the conference league with this service. Sort this out RAC, I will most definitely be moving my breakdown membership to a more reputable company.

Hi @CraigLittlejohn - I'm really sorry to hear of your trouble getting sorted here - I will forward your details on to the team internally at the RAC and make sure someone looks into your situation.
In the meantime, please find details of the complaints procedure at this link: https://www.rac.co.uk/complaints -
@CraigLittlejohn Be wary of the RAC asking you to raise a complaint. Its their way of kicking the can down the road without dealing with the issue. You will receive a standard reply telling you that they take complaints seriously and will reply to you within 8 weeks. Oh and it will also say don't contact any other departments as this will delay the process. After 8 weeks you will receive a standard letter saying how very sorry they are but there is nothing they can do and the case is closed. This happened to me when they lost my car keys and I still cant get my car repaired. Its now been almost 3 months.

Not sure if the email is still valid but mark it as an official complaint for Mr. David Hobday, who is the CEO
[email protected]
The problem is that the RAC has been broken up so many times that part is owned by an equity company based in Jersey (CVC Capital Partners), part is owned by the Sovereign Wealth Fund based in Singapore (GIC Private Ltd), so it's not a case of buying a single share in the company and going to the annual shareholders meeting to question the CEO, where he has to answer as he works for you, the shareholder.
So many shell companies for them to hide behind to avoid liability.
One possibility is to claim that Mr. Hobday is making false claims in the RAC Companies House filings (Page 11 and forum admin please don't delete the link as it's a public record)
