Snow

We had a light dusting this morning, and already my cul-de-sac is showing signs of icing where the cars that park by the lockups at the top have driven over it so slowly have compressed it. What's it like for you?

I found an empty car park so I had a play, seeing what an emergency stop (only from 25mph) is like, what the difference between traction control on/off is etc. Quite seriously, I consider it educational as then you can memorise what it feels like just before you lose grip so it doesn't happen on the roads

Hi Drivingforfun, admitting you might learn something is very un-British 🙂, if only more people would do so, in slippery conditions. Here in the North East we have only had light snow that was well gritted and salted. Going to dialysis I saw about half a dozen cars driving in the cleared tracks only to attempt to overtake on the icy slush with plenty of throttle on. ???

I used to have a local skid pan. It was owned and run by London Transport for new bus drivers. At weekends they charged a nominal fee for others to go and play. Great fun.
On a side note: We had a heavy snowfall here a few years ago, and I had an idiot light on my dashboard kept coming on. I had better things to do, so ignored it until I got home. Turned out it was advising me that my drive wheels had lost traction - like I didn't know that! 😠Last edited by Rolebama; 07-01-26 at 16:56. Reason: Typo
