I was walking in town a while ago and a huge limo stopped next to me, and the window wound down... I started planning how to explain I'm alright for drugs and not into paying for "services", when he just asked me for directions, phew. 😅 He then thanked me and asked if I wanted a lift, to which I said no thanks as you do... but as soon as he pulled away realised I'd missed out on a free limo ride 😆

Reading a couple of posts on the Aston Martin thread, I'm wondering if anyone else has some interesting stories to share where something was within their grasp and for whatever reason they didn't take it?

In 1979 I was on a Course to be a Plant Fitter. Two of us were obviously outshining the others, and one day we were called into the office. We were told that Komatsu were looking for a mechanic with a good chance of becoming Area Overseer for Southern England, and I was their top reference. I was married with a kid, and, as the job entailed the occasional night out, I declined, and the other guy got the job. (He was single.) We had become quite good friends, and he had my address. Some time later, I got a letter from him saying he would be back in the UK (?) in a couple of weeks, and would like to meet up. He was now living and working in Canada as their Head of Servicing and Maintenance, and was living the 'good life' on his salary.

Ah, if only, - I am sure we all have plenty of those moments that add to the tedium of sleepless nights, when our brains just won't switch off insisting instead to trawl through our lifetime's memories!
But then, the grass is always greener over the hill - until we get there.
Now I am going all Irish, should I change my name to Phill'O Sophical ? -
Back in the 70's a friend was looking for a roadie for an 'up and coming band' who were going to start touring.
I went to see them at a pub in the East End, can't remember the name of the pub, and they were absolute rubbish, so I turned down the offer.
The band was Iron Maiden. -
@olduser "Now I am going all Irish, should I change my name to Phill'O Sophical"
It's a "Yes" from me. 😆 We do get quite philosophical in this forum...
Missed opportunities @Drivingforfun, well now you got me thinking. My dad wanted to send me to America to study for a year before I attended uni and my mom was totally against the idea (this was right after 9/11). So, I didn't go, and sometimes I think how my life would have looked if I had gone.
But, I like my life as it is, so maybe everything that happened was for the best.Lily
