Servicing Stop is a Scam

DO NOT USE. Have not had my car back

My car was picked up for service, and I was told the engine needed to be flushed before they could put the oil back in - an extra charge that I declined after a quick search confirmed my engine does not need flushing, and I paid for the oil as they said that was an unavoidable charge. I was then warned that “without the engine flushing, I might experience problems down the line,” which felt more like a threat than advice.

Now it’s 7 pm on a Friday, I can’t get through to any of the numbers I was contacted from, and customer service is unresponsive. No car. No communication. Nothing.

This service is not cheaper in the end, and they pressure you with unnecessary extras. Unless you want to be pressured to pay extras that you do not need and have no guarantee of getting your car back, DO NOT USE this service.

For high mileage and engines where oil changes have been neglected, it can be a valid service.
Ask what flushing agent they will be using and ask to watch them perform the flushing to make sure it's done properly because it's a complex process and you want to make sure it's done correctly. Also ask them what are the (insert your car make and model here) manufacturers recommendations for engine flushing.

We actually found that the CVH engine, used on a lot of Fords at the time, were prone to engine damage when flushed. The higher the mileage, the less chance they stood of surviving flushing. Simply because the flushing oil would soak into the hardened crud over a period of time, loosening it, and it would end up in the sump, causing it to either clog the strainer in the sump, or blocking the filter, when it would block the galleries in the block through the by-pass system. Either way, it destroyed the engine. We also found similar effects on other engines if they had racked up high mileages before flushing.
