Does anyone know what should go in the 'No." field at the top of an IDP 1968? I just received one, but that section was left blank. I am just wondering if it should have been filled in and what info goes in there?

Paypoint have been of no help at all and I am wondering if anyone else has been through this?

Hi there @markjfoster16, good question! The “No.” field on an IDP (1968) is normally where the permit’s unique issue number goes. It’s usually filled in at the point of issue (for example, when you get it from the Post Office).

If yours has been left blank, it might not have been completed properly when it was issued. The best thing to do is:

-Check the official GOV.UK page on IDPs here:Get an International Driving Permit (GOV.UK)
-Pop back to the Post Office branch where you got it and ask them to confirm whether the number should have been filled in, and if necessary, they can -put it right or reissue the permit.


So in short: yes, that field should normally have something in it, and the Post Office are the people who can sort it out for you.

So, the Post Office no longer issue these, it is now Paypoint. I have repeatedly asked them to sort this out but they are unable to do so and seem clueless. It has gone on for weeks and I travel soon. The Paypoint location I bought the IDP from is maintaining that the No. field should be left blank and they say they cannot fill it in!

So, I am just wondering what info should go in that field. They entered their location elsewhere, and the IDP has my driving license details added, but I am not sure what should go in the No. field and how I get that info. On my receipt there is an 'SN' number, which could be 'serial number' but Paypoint cannot or won't answer this question.

I was wondering if any members had a 1968 IDP that was filled out correctly and if they could confirm with their receipt exactly which details were added to their No. field. In other words, what info on the receipt corresponds with what was written in the No. field.
