It is now due a service. Kia dealership want £400 for its year 4 service. This includes a full coolant change. However, the vehicle was part of a recall only 2 years ago and had the coolant fully replaced then. The coolant level remains on maximum.
I asked what I get for my £400 and they said they check everything and I get a replacement pollen filter and screen wash!
I don't care about pollen filters as I don't suffer from hay fever and in any case the cost is trivial. I have the screen wash already topped up. It is getting an MOT where everything important, at least regards safety, will be checked.
The only reason that I am tempted to get it serviced is to maintain the warranty for another 3/4 years but it seems that I am effectively betting £400 of my hard earned money on the vehicle suffering a big expensive defect in the next 3/4 years.
Should I pay up? If I don't then what is the risk? Am I likely to suffer an expensive fault especially a battery one within the guarantee period? What advice can other Kia EV owners give?
Is this just a money making opportunity for Kia dealers?
Would failing to get it serviced definitely invalidate my warranty. My son has a different manufacturers EV and didn't stick to the service requirements; the manufacturers still replaced a faulty battery cell without quibble for him.
I am missing something important?
Many thanks for any advice. Will be much appreciated.
