Breakdown in France

Hi, before our planned drive to France we took out RAC European breakdown cover at the same time as upgrading our Aviva car insurance. 1 hour after getting off Le Shuttle in Calais our car broke down on the motorway. Called RAC they arrange for the car and us to be collected by a recovery truck and dropped off at the recovery depot. They arranged a taxi to a hotel they had arranged for us. All ok so far but, this all happened on Friday afternoon, the car is still under warranty with Nissan and there is a Nissan dealer only a few minutes away from the recovery depot. We are now nearly midday on Wednesday and the car has still not been taken to Nissan. I’ve now found out that RAC have 3 working days to get the car to the dealer and then the dealer has 2 days to diagnose the problem. We are due to travel home on Sunday. The Nissan dealer is closed at the weekend. If the RAC had taken our car to the Nissan dealer much sooner we may have had a chance of getting our car back or at least have a fair idea of timescale but now we won’t know if the car can we repaired until the very last minute and then we have to make arrangement to take back to the uk by train, at our own expense because RAC will only pay £125 per day, it won’t take longer than a day to get home and the cost will be around £500.

@AndyRush Hi there, welcome to the RAC Forum.

Thanks for letting us know, I'm really sorry things haven't gone smoothly. I'll send you a DM. If you could kindly share a bit more information there, I’ll do my best to help you.
