Hi,

I have a 2006 Renault master with this strange behaviour that it sometimes gets reduced power and rpm seems to be limited to 1800rpm.

It breaking slightly the problem goes away but might come back after a while.

Initially we thought there could be a connection to the speed controller or rather speed limiter - but the rpm being lockes shows different.

On the other hand if it is limp mode - is it normal that it goes away when simply breaking?

Im renting the van out (its a campervan) and im a bit worried if this problem is a critical one that should not be ignored of if I should just let it run as long as it does not get worse.

what do you think. Is this limp mode or any idea what else it could be?

I would think the first move would be to have a look at the fault codes.

Just a guess but easy to check.
With the engine at about 1500 rpm hold your hand near the tailpipe, not too close it gets hot.
Is the exhaust gas coming out at a fair rate or hardly at all? If the cat is plugged it will build up backpressure choking the engine after it's been running a short time but if it's a whisper find a quiet spot and remove the upstream O2 sensor and see if it goes away when you remove the backpressure.
PS don't let TC1474 know because it's illegal, but for a brief test it may be OK 😁

It sounds like limp mode. Best to get it checked soon. Ignoring it might cause bigger problems later on.
