Last night around 11.45pm, I took the car out to hit the ATM on the High St. On the way there is a left-hand bend in the road, and as I approached I could see orange beacons reflected on the hedgerow. I slowed, not yet knowing what was going on. As I rounded the bend, there is a very bright reflective Keep Left sign in the middle of the road, a lorry parked slightly short of the sign on the other side of the road with headlights and worklights on. As I rounded further, this idiot was standing in the middle of the lane facing me waving at me to stop. I did so, and then realized his high-viz jacket had no reflective quality at all. Coupled with the brightness of the KL sign, and lorry lights he was lucky I saw him at all and had slowed. I pulled over past the lorry and walked back to explain to him that maybe he should swap jackets with one of the others. Unfortunately I do not speak any Eastern European languages, and none of them, apparently, spoke English. I returned home via a different route.
