Diversion Fiasco
-
We are currently suffering another series of diversions relevant to HS2 and roadworks. Obviously I know my way around my local area, so I don't have a problem, but coming across a crossroads where there is a Diverted Traffic sign pointing in each of the four directions is a bit much. Apparently caused by new budgets allowing for all this work, but someone, somewhere should be made to answer for the chaos they are causing?

I think you're probably referring to a lot of my usual routes as well, though I haven't seen the one you mention, that's actually quite funny
What I've come across a few times are traffic light crossing things on some of the roads that bisect the building sites, presumably for the staff/machinery to cross the road...but they sometimes go red when I approach them even at midnight on a Sunday, and nothing happens, then they go green again -
@Drivingforfun A few weeks ago the road from the water tower heading towards Sutton was closed, and a diversion towards Ashwell. At Ashwell we turned Guilden Morden. I am out of my comfort zone now, but somewhere along there is a Y junction, with, at the time, Diverted Traffic signs for all three directions. Having no idea which way to go, I chose one. Happily for us it was the right one.

I know where you mean now
Depending on where you were heading (I guess Sutton wasn't the final destination) there's a nice single track route I like that goes directly to Sutton, it's the bold route on the picture I'll add. It sounds like maybe someone used a map to find the best route and then realised it wasn't a good idea to send all the main road traffic that way 🤔
