Motorway Accident Advice.

I would welcome some advice regarding an accident that I was in recently on the motorway. I was driving a ford fiesta at about 50 mph and an HGV driving at 70 mph hit into the side of me twice, I felt the car being pushed. The car came to a stop in the hard shoulder and fortunately I was not seriously hurt. However I am struggling with the psychological after-effects on me. I am wondering how likely in this type of accident is it for the car to turn over? How likely would it be for it to catch fire? How likely would it be to be trapped in the car? These are the thoughts that have been playing on my mind. I would be grateful to have some more factual information about this kind of accident.

Having dealt with many of hundreds of Motorway crashes ranging from very minor damage only to multiple fatalities, all I can say is that no 2 crashes are ever the same and the subsequent result or damage is not always what you expect it to be.

I have arrived at some crashes expecting multiple fatalities and everyone walks away without a scratch, and other times I have arrived thinking it will be a straight forward damage only and we have dead people inside a vehicle.

Everyone also deals with the aftermath of a crash differently.

Inexperienced drivers tend to suffer more than old experienced hands, but some older people are of a nervous disposition and that can affect them too.

So no easy answer I am afraid.

Have you spoken to your insurers about this?
    Or even your GP?

Whilst Motorways are usually safer than normal roads you still have to be aware of what is going on around you.

    Best wishes.

This is what I used to have to deal with. As you can see, I was slim back then. 😉 I watched 26 burn to death on the M4 and I could do nothing for them, but that was my job and I accepted having to deal with things like this.

Strange part is, that all bodies were cremated apart from the soles of their feet 🤔
