Returning back to base tonight, it had been dark for about 15 minutes and I was on a main A class road.

Ahead and on the opposite side of the road is a minor junction. Car travelling towards me displaying only DLR decided that the main A road should really be a give way for the minor junction, so brakes, stops to allow the vehicle out of the minor junction, despite the fact that traffic flow behind was quite light, when surprise surprise, the twat gets smacked up the arse at a good 50MPH +.

I don't think either vehicles will be back on the road anytime soon if ever..

Give way driver rants at rear ending driver. Rear ending driver rants at Give way driver, with some additional justification as there were no lights displayed to the rear of what was also a black car.

I stopped to make sure nobody was injured (fortunately it was damage only, although there may be some soft tissue injuries becoming noticeable over the next few days), but Give way driver was adamant he did nothing wrong, he was simply being polite!. So a quick lesson in traffic law was forthcoming making me public enemy number 1.

Hey ho, not my insurance no claims going for a burton, but why has it become more and more predominant in the last couple of years?

It still remains one of my pet hates along with centre lane hogging on the Motorway to name but 2.

It beggars belief.

Funny how the police are always the evil enemy; right until they want to report their car had been stolen and now desperately want your help.
I once got called into the office because I had been dispatched to a non critical call and upon arrival the rotund and irate woman, possibly called Karen, shouted "You're late", to which I replied "I did'nt know you'd made a xxxxxx appointment" (Pissy mood because it had been one of those days).
School patrol for a week.
About a week later a citizen had reported that I was driving along main street at 80mph. No lights or sirens because we were silent running to a high risk call.
When asked why I was driving at 80mph I said "Because my patrol cars a Ford, and it wouldn't go any faster"
School patrol for 30 days.

My Dad became quite sarcastic with those kinds of people too

Like every police officer he’d, when stopping someone for something minor like illegal parking, get the “why don’t you go and catch a burglar” so he would reply he’d love to if he wasn’t dealing with morons illegally parking

He once stopped someone very vaguely famous (like a reserve defender on a premiership football team) and got the “do you know who I am??” and so he thanked the bloke for the details as it helped fill out the ticket quickly 😛

@Drivingforfun I once stopped a well known local politician for speeding and got the "Don't you know who I am?", to which I replied "Yes, it's on your drivers license; oh wait a sec; it's on your expired drivers license" 🤣

I don't think it's just the police, it's anyone perceived to be in authority.

In my time inspecting energy meters, there was usually an argument if the gas or electricity had to be turned off for safety reasons.
Often the safety issue had been caused by them trying to fiddle the meter.
When Hitler (or even little Hitler but I am tall) crept in, I often amused myself by asking, "who is he then?" that slowed them down a bit.
The, "do you know who I am?", got 'yes the occupier of the premises'.

Dr, Nurses, Ambulance crew, and Firemen I have seen them all being berated, and they are only doing their job, and trying to help.

I am no respecter of AUTHORITY, and believe when it is wrong it should be challenged but taking issue with people employed by Authority is just a waste of time, and is unfair because they are not in a position to fight back (well officially anyway).

@TC1474 I have had to stop too many times in circumstances you describe, and I am very aware of the possibility of being rear-ended. Similarly following a bend in the road and finding someone doing a 3-point turn on country lanes, leaving me just out of sight of following traffic.

@olduser I think it’s worse with health professionals since the internet, as everyone is an expert on health now. You can spend 15 mins googling and self-diagnose yourself with something that only 200 people in the country have, and if the doctor tries to disagree the he or she is an idiot and abusing their position of authority 😕

It’s not helped though as there are plenty of people who do abuse their authority, even my dad met several dickhead PCs when off-duty! He usually didn’t rise to them but did once produce his own warrant card when a PC decided to berate my mum for “failing” to follow directions which were barked at her which caused her to get anxious. it’s a difficult one I guess
