DPF filter replacement under Platinum Plus warranty cover

Hello all. I purchased a 19’ evoque in march ‘24. The garage I purchased it from sold me the RAC platinum plus warranty stating that it covers a full DPF filter replacement under Platinum.

My DPF now needs replacing my RAC garage has said, they have put a claim to the RAC for replacement and RAC have said it’s not covered under my platinum plus warranty. Looking through my t&cs it’s hard to tell.

Could anyone enlighten me who is more in the know whether this should be covered? The guy at the garage who sold me it stated probably a dozen times that the DPF is covered by the warranty I purchased.

    Thank you in advance

I am no expert but these warranties generally do not cover consumables.
Clearly, we can see that an Air filter or Oil filter is intended to be a consumable.
The Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) is a filter, and it doe's clog up particularly if the engine is not worked hard at intervals.
The engine management system will try to clear it, there are cleaning fluids available which, if the adverts are to be believed, can clear the DPF if used early enough.

To me this puts the DPF on the border line between consumable and non consumable.

If you cannot find the DPF specifically mentioned in the Terms and Conditions you would need to contact the policy company, I don't think it is the RAC but you should find it in the small print.

As with any of this type of thing, we should read the T&C within 14 days of purchase. (It can be cancelled within 14 days)

    Good Luck.
