Hello all.
I Purchased a 2022 Range Rover Evoque 10 months ago second hand from a garage, I purchased the platinum plus warranty through the same garage.

I’ve just had to take my car to the garage as I had an engine management fault. The garage has regenerated the DPF filter and claimed to RAC but they have rejected the claim. I was told previously that this would fall under my Platinum Plus warranty. Should it have been approved? What course of action should I have?

Do you have the T&Cs? Exhausts (of which the DPF is part) usually aren’t covered by stuff like this. Presumably they told you it’d be covered when you bought it, to try to sell it to you?!

I’d say it sounds like they weren’t giving you accurate info, sadly 😕

With all of these warranties, you need to read the terms and conditions.
Servicing the DPF is part of the normal servicing of the vehicle, therefore it will not be included in the warranty along with any other part that is considered consumable.
Which when you think about it doe's not leave much!

Dealer's sell these warranty's in an attempt to get around the 6 month warranty they have to give on second hand vehicles.
Unfortunately you hit this problem at 10 months.
You can reduce the need for this cleaning by going on a longer run now and again, basically to get the engine up to running temperature and keep it there for about half an hour. (engine must be working not idling)
Under these conditions the engine computer will arrange to clean the DPF.

Also, minimise the number of short journeys.

As I read the T&C. DPF regeneration is normal servicing, and not covered.
Failure of the DPF, say mechanical damage would/should be covered.
But failure of the DPF due to not servicing it would not be covered.

But I am not a Lawyer!
I am just doing what most motor insurers do first, and thinking, how can we avoid paying? 🙄

I agree with olduser.

Also, the terms state "A failure is the failure of a component to perform its normal function".

The normal function of any filter means it may get clogged up: that does not mean it's failed, just that it needs unclogging.
