Sorry in advance as I know I often sound sarcastic but there is some genuineness to this

I was chatting cars at a family dinner and we decided that at some point someone will have an idea along the lines of: "we've thought of how to make a car that's more efficient, easier to park, more sustainable, cheaper to maintain and less damaging on the roads" and basically (re)inventing a small hatchback like a Fiesta

Everything goes in cycles so you may well be right.

I haven't heard much about hot hatches recently - though I may just be out of the loop - I wondered if hybrid/EV market has killed them?

After all, (off the line) a Tesla can out perform a Lamborghini. So presumedly, any electric hatchback in a sport mode could be a hot hatch (without the body kit).

The problem (as came up in a recent thread) is - "Small cars = small profits".
