I am claiming expenses through 3rd party for money paid to my insurers for engineers report, storage and transportation of vehicle. 3rd party happy to pay this but need detailed receipt not just " amount paid" my insurers reluctant to do this, can I insist. Amount is 600.00 and can't afford to lose this.
So let me get this straight? I take it you were involved in a crash where you are claiming off the third party (the other drivers insurance) and you had to pay some initial up front costs?
If that is the case, then they are what are called uninsured losses and you are entitled to claim these back from the third party. That said, it should be your insurers handling the claim that is doing the chasing and not you.
Anyway, the services you paid for should be itemised especially if they were done by professional organisations and will usually detail how they came to their costs.
If they are requesting a detailed receipt from you, then it works both ways as they will need to see that you have not just thought of the first figure that came into your head and that the costs were incurred as a result of you engaging professional services.
So, if your insurers are reluctant to do their job properly, just suggest that it may be appropriate for you to contact the insurance ombudsman as they are working on your behalf not the other way round and you are entitled to be returned to the financial position you would have been in prior to the crash had it not been for the negligence of the third party.
In short, detailed receipts is normal and expected.
