Some advice needed please!

    Good morning
6 weeks ago I purchased a ford Cmax 2.0tdi auto diesel. Within 2 days, the abs sensor lit up and as it was under 30 days warranty, I contacted them and took it in.

They told me a new sensor had already been fitted and the fault code had not been reset. He reset it and within 20 miles of driving it was back. Off i went again, back to the dealer, they ordered one and fitted it.
Fast forward to 2 weeks ago, i was sat at traffic lights and a message appeared on the dashboard stating "ENGINE MALFUNCTION,SERVICE NOW"
I managed to drice tentatively to a side road and contacted the dealer, i was advised to switch the vehicle off and see if it appeared, it did not. I was told that there would be no point bringing it in as the fsult isnt there now, it wouldnt show on the code reader. I beleived this... a fault on my part.

So Saturday morning just gone, I was driving back from my terminally ill dad's house, when I felt a sudden jolt. I pulled over, and as I turned the corner , it revved as tho it was in no gear at all, just really high revs and could not go forward or reverse. turned the engine off and back on, noticed the engine management light was on and tried to get to a safe place, managed to get to a garage, they weren't open on Saturdays so i called the RAC.

The RAC mechanic turned up and he plugged the code reader and the faults just kept coming, he basically said the gearbox needed rebuilding and to contact the dealer as it wasn't a new fault. He tried to reset some parameters and took it for a short drive, and like what happened to myself, I could hear it revving, he had to turn it off and back on to get it back to the garage.

I have The garage carrying out some diagnostics today.

it's been past my 30 days , but only about 6 weeks since I bought it.
Like I previously said my dad is on end of life care, so need a car to be able to get to him quickly. I also work nights so a car is essential for me right now so I have had to buy a small car to get me from a to b (hopefully).

where can i go from here, I paid by bank transfer...
I really appreciate any advice. Thankyou.

I think the best advice is to contact your local Citizens Advice Bureau, they should help you or point you in the right direction.

The problem is, the initial fault which you got them to correct was not related to the gearbox problem, but the gearbox was probably in trouble at that time, and would have shown at least warnings if diagnosed.
Unlike manual transmission, automatic gear boxes need at least the oil changing and oil filter replacement at regular intervals.

I think this gearbox is an automated manual gearbox, which has the potential to damage it's self if the automatics malfunction, and lack of oil is one thing that will cause a malfunction.

I have no doubt, when you purchased the car you would be told it had had a full service but you have no way of knowing if this was the case.

The garage is going to claim the car was out of warranty when it failed.

You are going to need some legal help to force the garage to at least share the cost.

    Best wishes.
