Swinton to RAC cover

I received a letter saying swinton breakdown who I have been with for years has gone to RAC and my cover is now with them and the prices has not changed no problems I thought.
Then I read what's not covered and it seems accident cover is not on the policy even if other drivers fault I would have to arrange have my car removed at my expense and claim it back. Now with Swinton that was coverd I had two cars hit by other drivers one wriitten off and all I did was call my insurers and they contacted Swinton to come out. So why is this policy different and the same price ????

It’s standard for breakdown companies not to do this because the at fault driver is liable for the recovery i.e. their insurance pays for it so why do something that’s already paid for

What might be the case is your insurance contacts RAC who bills it as a one-off un-covered job (this is likely how it worked with your previous incidents) but they could use any company they like I guess

Just my take on it but I’m no expert

Unless it has changed very recently, Drivingforfun is right.
Recovery is part of the cost of a crash, therefore it is covered by insurance, should someone else pay the insurers are not going to complain are they?
