Hi, my daughter has just bought a car which is financed with the garage - does her fully comp insurance need to be in her name, or can I be the policy holder and she is a named driver.

I think would depend on the nature of the finance agreement, i.e. did the garage loan her the money and the car is in her name, or is the car in the name of a third party company?

That's on top of the usual issues about "fronting" which you are probably aware of already

I was not aware of ‘fronting’ which I’ve just looked into - so clearly she needs to be the main policy holder and me as the named driver - surprised the insurance company did not mention this though when we asked for a quote:
