I should probably start by saying that this car will not be available in the UK, but I think it's an interesting move by the South Korean company.

Pick up trucks are big business in America and Australia so it'll be interesting to see how the market responds when the Tasman goes on sale in 2025.

I don't know much about pick up trucks, but I think this is a great looking truck. Perhaps we'll see Kia take on a wider range of vehicles.

@NMNeil, do you think this might sell well in the states?

Trucks tend to do quite well here, because companies/sole traders can only expense 100% of the value of a vehicle through their company if it's classed as a commercial vehicle, if they expense a "car" they can only write off 6% (unless it's a very clean car, i.e. electric)

Trucks fill a useful niche and you'll often see traders using them even if they seemingly make no sense as a tool for their area of work, because they can expense them as commercial vehicles but they are often useable as cars, and crucially for a lot of people, are also more fashionable than a white panel van!

Sadly we don't get the nice V8 trucks here but if they do one with a 2.5L diesel engine the chances are we'll get it

New vehicle sales are at an all time low here, simply because they are too expensive.
For example:

and when they do sell them some buyers quickly realize that they can't afford to pay the finance so they get repossessed by the financial institution who sell them at auction, but even that is problematic.

And as for the 2.5L diesel; aren't new vehicles with combustion engines being banned in the UK starting in 2030?
Nice though it looks I don't think it will be available in the US or UK unless it's electric powered.

The timeline was pushed back to 2035, the new government said they would reinstate the 2030 date again (for new car sales) but I don't think that's been formally confirmed yet - someone else may know better.

In my personal opinion, if either government took no action, I imagine the UK market for ICE (only) cars from 2030 would be pretty small.
