With reference to Drivingforfun's thread about people not liking being overtaken, not only did a lot of motorists not like being overtaken by it, but they weren't too happy about being out-accelerated either.

I notice that there are very few of us using avatars. Come on, they can be fun in their own way. Mine is of a Reliant Robin I played with in the 90s. Bodywork had starred in quite a bad way, so I hand-painted it with thick enamel, and did a little tinkering with the engine. It did a 103mph, and returned an mpg of over 100mpg. All glass was removed, along with the tailgate. It was well over 100lbs lighter than when it left the factory.

I tried to put an avatar up a few weeks ago but it didn't seem to work so I gave up
Will try again now! 😊 -
Your Robin sounds a bit like my Mum's 1960s Mini, she said it would go round the one way system in Watford on 2 wheels, apparently it would go round roundabouts in top gear as well, not something I've ever tried 😳 I might have done a big motorway type roundabout in 5th (out of 6)
She was quite into cars and her father was a mechanic so it got well looked after, and she was popular at college because a lot of her colleagues had Minis as well and she used to fix them, via my Grandfather, over the phone by explaining to him what she was looking at and being given instructions!!!! -
Cornering was a bit like sidecar racing. Right-handers was to open the door and hang out as far as you can. For left-handers it was best to have a cooperative passenger. Great fun on disused WW2 airfields etc. On the road I learnt to read cambers, a habit I still have, and to brake the relevant amount.
