European Breakdown Nightmare

  • CatherineSharpe's Avatar
    Our family car broke down in Corsica in the summer and to cut an incredibly long story short, after being shipped to mainland France on 27th August still remains at the garage unfixed.

    I’ve found it almost impossible to get consistent, clear information from the call centre who never contact me with updates. The only time I get any information, which is often contradictory is when I call them.

    I’ve asked for our case to be prioritised as it is now 7 weeks since the breakdown but get nowhere.

    Does anyone know how I can get RAC to take responsibility and provide me the service I continue to pay for? I am at my wits end with it and feel so powerless to get the situation sorted.

    thank you

    Hi CatherineSharpe,

    Welcome to the Community.

    I imagine that you're already aware, but just to be sure, let me share these contact options. As described in that link;

    "If you aren’t happy with our final response, or if you don’t get a final response in writing within 8 weeks of first making your complaint, you may be able to refer your complaint to the Financial Ombudsman Service."

    I'm afraid, nobody in the community has access to member accounts, but our contact centre teams will be able to offer greater guidance, if/when this applies to your case.

    All the best.

    Thanks,
    Mark.
