Blasting loud music from a tiny car is a rite of passage for many young drivers, of course most of us grow out of this fairly quickly.

However, I still like to play music or (on longer drives) listen to a podcast. In fact, I rarely listen to a radio station anymore.

What do you listen to when you're driving?

My music varies depending on journey. With the wife on board it's Classic FM. Solo it's 60s/70s/80s mixed cds which I fill with mp3s. The slower tempo of Classic does slow me down a bit compared to my mixed cds, with generally upbeat stuff, which tends to get me where I'm going a bit earlier.
(My wife doesn't know this, and she is not involved with this Forum, so I can be honest!)

I find it interesting that the music choice has an impact on driving style. I think I remember reading that McDonald's play faster paced music to encourage people to eat their meal faster.

I prefer to just listen to the engine when I'm driving for fun

On a motorway trip I'd put some kind of talking/chat on so again not music

I remember being in Budapest and hearing this from a car, was surprised to look round for the offender to discover it was a police car with 4 young police officers in it

Supermarkets and busy restaurants do this too. Slow tempo when quiet, upbeat when busy.
