I recently saw an advert for a new Grand Tour special, now Clarkson, May and Hammond have tended to only do the big challenges on their show for quite a while, but it got me thinking, who is the best vehicle reviewer, past or present?

It could be from a magazine, online blog, TV Show, YouTube channel or anything else and what makes them the best for you?

I would go for Tiff Needell. I used to read his reviews and road test comments in magazines as well as watching him on Top Gear and Fifth Gear. He would not only test the car, but also put in comparisons with other similar cars. He was never afraid to slag off a car if it needed it.
I watch the comical trio for entertainment, I would never buy a car because Eric Clapton could play a guitar through it. (Although to be honest, I have been able to play my guitar through my last four, and have done so.)

My mind might be playing tricks on me, but I'm sure Tiff had an orange helmet because of something to do with motorboat racing... I'm hoping someone can fill in the details.

Orange is easier to see in the water which is why motor boat racers helmets were that colour... presumedly that's why life jackets etc are also orange.

I can't remember the exact science of it, but it is something to do with the frequency of orange and the way our eyes and brains work. Orange is readily visible to us.

I quite like Mat Watson from Carwow

He tends to tailor the reviews to the likely audience, so he will review a family SUV quite basically and tell you about the cupholders and MPG, but when it comes to a sports car he will talk about torque figures and handling
