The end of summer is fast approaching and the final bank holiday before Christmas is on Monday, what a great opportunity to take a short break in the UK.

If you drive for more than a couple of hours, you may well stop at one of the UK's 100+ motorway services.

They've come along way since I was a kid, the days of Little Chef's have long since gone.

Personally, if I'm driving along the M6, I will sometimes stop at Tebay Services.
It has a farmshop and the food is really really good.

My cousin swears they sell the best sausage rolls he's ever had.

I know I'm in the minority and probably deserve a lecture from road safety people but I've never really found the need to stop when traveling within the UK, unless I guess if I was going from like Cornwall to the Scottish Highlands

That services does sound worth a stop at though.......I love a farm shop...😋

I envy you. I tend to stop after ~3 hours.

    I'll often grab a coffee and/or a bathroom break.

If I'm driving with kids in the car I'll always pack snacks, but stopping for a bite to eat is useful too. Nobody needs to be sat next to a hangry pre-teen huffing in a confined space for hours on end. Stopping for fast food is fine when choices are limited, but the novelty of proper food on the go is a nice break from the mundane... or am i just showing my age?

Sorry to be negative, but when I last went to Scotland I stopped at Keele services on the M6. Their hot beverages are really bad, and on the way up we put it down to the maker. On the return however, it was also bad and we concluded it was the water. Won't be stopping there again.
Oxford Services, just off the M40 is probably the best I have ever used. Used it a few times and can't fault them.
