Just been to an American car show


Question specifically for Rolebama: it was Supernats at Shuttleworth estate, Bedfordshire, did you go or know it was on?


It’s meant to be a hot rod show which I’m not too into but there were plenty of “regular” American muscle cars and things as well which are my area of interest

What are your favourite muscle cars?

On a sidenote, your post has reminded me that I keep meaning to watch 'Ford vs Ferrari' and still haven't got around to it.

Drivingforfun: It was our 50th Wedding Anniversary over the weekend, and she-who-will-be-obeyed-or-else had other plans.

When I worked on motorcycles back in the 70s, almost everbody had American muscle cars. Camaros, Mustangs and Firebirds being the most common. My favourite though eas my friend's Thunderbird convertible. When the door was opened, the driver seat turned 90degrees so you stepped out directly onto the footpath, and the steering column also turned to the centre of the car out of the way.

Mark, my favourite is the Mustang. Something odd that occurred to me was, next to other American tanks, how small and subtle the Mustangs looked - they seemed like normal family cars! Not something you'd say if you saw one in isolation

Wow Rolebama, I thought my parents were doing good at 36. 50 years seems a valid reason for not going to stand in a field to look at some smelly cars. Congrats!!!!

One thing I enjoyed was how friendly the atmosphere seemed to be. In honesty lots of enthusiasts look like the kind of people you'd try not to meet in a dark alley, but it was such a friendly event without any snobbery or oneupmanship like you can get with some other car communities
