Car VS Bus

I'm trying to gauge whether the bus company is going to fight us on this,

We was driving approximately 20 mphs, spot a souble decker slowing down at a junction to turn into our lane of traffic, obviously our right of way so we continue.

We notice that instead of coming to a stop at the junction the bus speeds up pulling out straight into the side off us. This junction is a one way street and is double dotted lines. We have barely a few seconds to break, for reference it was the front corner of the bus that hit us, so the passenger door. And even if we did slow or stop the back end of the bus would've just swung round and hit us anyway.

I wouldve thought buses have to take extra care when pulling out of junctions compared to cars considering they need more space to get out etc and if there is the blindspot then even more so.

Some people have said it's just one of those things and bus drivers have blindspots which is far enough, but he didn't even stop. And as he approached the junction we was already too close for him to pull out so if he had looked he would've seen that. Afterwards he came out of the bus apologising but once the bus companies management arrived he stopped talking. Police were involved so we do have reference numbers etc.

Just wondering because it's the major bus company how likely they are to not claim fault? Unfortunately no dashcam but there may be cctv of nearby shops and some witnesses.

If anyone had an experience of dealing with insurance claims against public transport feel free to let me know your experiences.

    Thank you

99% of buses are full of onboard CCTV covering every angle both inside and out.

That said it should be fairly straightforward based on what you have said.

Buses are just as much required to give way at junction as any other vehicle, and so the bus has failed to comply with an obligatory Traffic sign and failed to give way to traffic on the major carriageway.

You should have no issues with your claim and the bus onboard footage should help you.
