I borrowed my mums car recently, and noticed that the rear view mirror had a blue tinge all of a sudden…. It wasn’t like that the night before.
I’ve looked around the mirror unit and the dashboard to see if there are any controls, but can’t find anything to change the settings. It almost looks like a blue film across the mirror 🤷‍♀️
Has anyone else experienced this, and knows how to stop it?

@XamSquishy The mirror is self dimming which means that at night it's just a plain mirror, during the day it dims depending on ambient light.
The common 'fix' is to put a piece of tape over the sensor which means as far as the mirror is concerned it's always night.

I don't know if it's a US / UK thing but my mirrors seem to do the complete opposite

They are normal during the day, but at night they dim which I assume is to stop the driver being blinded by the headlights of a car behind

Occasionally if I drive too close up to a wall it will think it's dark and activate the dim, which as you say looks like a blue tint across the mirrors
