penalty charges on a restricted street, Please an advice !
-
I live next to a primary school for the past six years and early this year a camera was installed on the street and restricted between 8:00am -9:30am. No warning letter that I needed to apply for an exemption was send by the council . I received 4 penalty charges for driving to my house, wrote to council several time explained that l live on the restricted street, applied for exemption but they insisted that I must pay the fine.

Only advice I know is to get an appointment with a lawyer. You may well have to pay all the 'fines' depending on the time scale between them.

As has already been advised, get some proper legal advice. Why? When it comes to parking there are often a load of bylaws that are badly written and often the signage does not comply with the regulation in force, and the local authorities are obliged to comply with their own regulations.
You also need to see copies of all and any correspondence that was allegedly sent to you along with the dates they were sent.
Once a clearer picture has been obtained that will help determine whether you have a case.
Councils are notorious for making wishy washy regulations and/or failing to place the correct signage and road markings and for failing to notify those who it affects the most. -
It may be worth your while to put your case onto a website that advises motorists on legal problems. Disputes with councils are something of a speciality there.
